Oh man what a day it was! Let’s see if I can sum this up:

If you read my previous post 33 week update/preeclampsia, you may remember that I was readmitted to the hospital on 11/04/19 with hoped of making it to 11/15/19 (35 weeks gestation).

On November 9th Brooks failed one of his daily NST test (due to decreased fetal movement). The nurse told me not to panic and that they were going to order an emergency BPP to be done so they could check on him. Thankfully everything was okay and they told me he was just being stubborn.

On November 11th, he failed again. The nurse kept me hooked to the monitor for about 3 hours trying to get Brooks to cooperate. When he wouldn’t, I assumed the doctor would order another BPP like he did on Saturday. At 3:40 pm the nurse came in and said “well, it looks like we are having a baby today.” Talk about a crazy moment! Michael and I thought she was joking until she sat down her supplies and immediately began prepping me for surgery. Michael stepped out to call our parents and let them know and by the time he came back to the room, I was getting in the wheelchair to be taken back to surgery. Our perfect little boy was born one hour and one minute later. 11/11/19 at 4:41 pm weighing 4 lbs and 10 oz and 17 1/2 inches long. He was born at 34 weeks and 4 days.

Because he was early, he was immediately taken to the NICU and I was taken to recovery. Once in recovery, they started magnesium drip for 24 hours to prevent seizures. They wheeled me through the NICU to glance at Brooks on my way to recovery. I was on heavy pain meds but I remember thinking he was the prettiest thing I had ever seen.

24 hours later, I was able to get out of bed finally (after the magnesium was stopped) and Michael wheeled me down to the NICU to hold Brooks for the first time. I made it through the whole day without crying until this moment.

Brooks came into the world breathing on his own but he needed oxygen to help him regulate his breathing. He also needs a feeding tube since he didn’t know how to drink from a bottle yet.

14 days later, he finally got to come home. It was the longest/hardest 14 days of my life. Leaving the hospital without my baby was the hardest thing I have ever done. I cried all the way home. I finally stopped crying and the song “even though I’m leaving” came on and I started crying again. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to that song again without thinking of that day.

Brooks has been home with us for 10 days now and we are completely smitten by him. He is a constant reminder that we beat PCOS and infertility. ❤️

33 week update/preeclampsia

These last few weeks have been a whirlwind! On October 10th, I went to the doctors office because my blood pressure was elevated. They sent me to OB triage and I was told I had a trace or protein in my urine. I went home to do a 24 hour test which came back at 225 (anything over 300 is preeclampsia). I went home with no restrictions and 4 days later, my blood pressure was elevated again. I went back to the hospital but this time I was admitted for bedrest for 8 days. My protein number started at 660 and then dropped to 430 and then 315 by the time I was discharged. It was a scary few days because we were very close to meeting Brooks at only 30 weeks gestation. Thankfully he has held on a few more weeks with bedrest. I was readmitted to the hospital on November 4th and will be here until he arrives. My number today hit 3,106. We are trying to keep him in until November 15th (35 weeks) to avoid a long NICU stay.

I had to cancel so many of the things I have looked forward to since being pregnant. My baby shower, my baby moon, my maternity pictures, etc. and now I will have to have a c section and have a preemie so no birth photographer, no fresh 48 pics, nothing. I feel like I have been robbed of the experience a little but I know those are all material things and at the end of the day, a healthy baby is all that matters!

Sweet boy, we are getting so close to meeting you and we are all so excited. You have definitely kept everyone on their toes. Your ultrasound shows that you look just like mama 🙂

24 week update

Baby update: baby is doing great! He moves and kicks all day long and it is the sweetest feeling (sometimes, it brings me to tears). Dad got to feel his kicks for the first time today!

Pregnancy update: this pregnancy is flying by and I have to admit, it has been pretty easy thus far. Our next big milestone is going to be the glucose test this month. Prayers that all goes well!

We reached viability week this week! This is a huge milestone for us!

Picture is of my 23 week bump (because I don’t have any others to share 🤦🏼‍♀️)

Anatomy Scan

We had our anatomy scan yesterday (19w5d) and baby was absolutely perfect! He was bouncing around everywhere. Heart rate was 153 and baby weighs 8oz. We also officially have a name for baby: Jameson “Brooks” ❤️

It’s a BOY!

Our gender reveal was last Saturday and we found out our miracle baby is a BOY! As much as I wanted a girl, I am ecstatic about having a boy. I am praying for a brown hair, brown eyed boy who looks just like daddy. 💙

12 weeks 5 days (late post)

Baby update: we had our first appointment with the OB on Tuesday! It was my first time hearing the heartbeat and it was the most beautiful sound. Michael had to work in Texas so my mom went with me to the appointment. Everything was great with baby and we have our gender scan scheduled for June 29th! The doctor confirmed my due date is December 19th.

Pregnancy update: I have craved subway everyday for a week. I have literally eaten a turkey sub (heated of course) 4 times in the last 6 days. I still haven’t had any sickness! One of my least favorite things about being pregnant: being emotional. I am not really a crying person and the smallest thing will make me cry right now.

10 weeks 5 days (late post)

Baby update: we had our 10 week appointment Tuesday and baby is measuring right on schedule! Heart rate was 167. It was our last visit at the fertility clinic! Such a huge milestone but so bittersweet! I have tapered my progesterone down to once per day and I will stop completely this week!

Pregnancy update: I have had back and neck pain terribly over the last week! Thankfully a quick visit to the chiropractor helped tremendously! I have had a major craving for “side” foods: rice, mashed potatoes, macaroni, pasta salad, etc.
