Secret Club

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

I am 27 years old and I have recently discovered that I am a member of a secret club. A club that many couples are a part of but only few are brave enough to talk about. A club that doesn’t discriminate against age, weight, sex, gender, religion, race, social status, etc. I know you are thinking, a secret club with cool people, how do I join? Trust me, you don’t want to be apart of it. You wouldn’t want your worst enemy to join this club. Club name: infertility.

I read recently that one of the best ways to deal with any overwhelming emotion is to find a healthy outlet to express yourself. I have decided to create this journal to help me cope with my struggles and to help other people in my same position. My hope is that when I feel overwhelmed, I will not stress or cry. Instead, I will write.

  1. Dear heartbroken and strong woman–you commented on my blog post “Suicide: That Voice In Your Head is a Liar” on either or I got curious and clicked on your “name”. I read your blog and cried because this too was my experience about 25 years ago. I also am praying for a former student who is having infertility issues and I shared your blog with her. I am so glad that you are able to write and share and connect w/ others even if you aren’t talking with those you are close to. I understand the feelings of judgment and shame….and just downright disabling pain. Bless your heart. You are the age that I was when I finally did have a child–she will be 24 this summer. I was able to have one child after years of difficulty….and then lost two babies after that and never was able to get pregnant again. Yes, we are a club that no one wants to belong to. I will continue to follow your blog and pray that one day you will be announcing that you are pregnant. But more than that I want to know that you are well–that you find the strength to love life in so many other ways. I will pray to St. Jude–patron saint of lost causes–for your fertility. St. Jude came through for me–it seemed like a last-ditch attempt. Blessings to you….don’t ever give up on life.

I’d be lying if I said your post didn’t bring me to tears! It is so comforting to hear from those who were once in my position. It gives me hope that I will make it to the other side one day. Thank you for your kind words, for sharing my blog, and for praying for me. ❤️
